This Model A Runabout Maxwell was build in 1909. With Flat 2 Cylinder engine with 2 valves per cylinder, sized at 1647cc it is able to deliver 10.0 bhp, which travels comfortably at 40kph.
This car was originally priced at $500 without
headlights, windscreen or canvas top, and is equipped
with a 2 forward speed & reverse planetary transmission, shaft drive to the rear wheels, and a
thermo-syphon water cooling system.
Maxwell claimed that it would cost “29 cents a day” to run this car 100 miles a week, and that it cost less to operate than to keep a horse & buggy. Although 9000 Maxwell cars were produced in 1909
only a few survive to this day.
